In addition to Education graduate degrees, GVSU also offers endorsements at the graduate level for educators who already hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate.


Graduate Program Options

Graduate Degrees

GVSU offers opportunities to pursue a Master's in Education in a variety of areas, as well as an Educational Specialist in Leadership degree and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership (in partnership with Eastern Michigan University).

Graduate Teaching Certification (GTC) Program

This intensive, full-time teacher preparation program is designed for adults who have obtained a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college. The GTC program will prepare candidates for their initial, standard teaching certificate in the state of Michigan. Please review the website for additional details about the Elementary or Secondary GTC program.

Graduate Endorsements for Teaching

GVSU offers endorsements at the graduate level for students who already hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate.

Graduate Certificate in Online/Blended Instruction

Graduate Certificate in English as a Second Language (ESOL)

Completing a graduate certificate does not result in teaching certification or lead to an additional endorsement for students who already hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate.

Scholarships

GVSU offers several scholarships for students pursuing Graduate Education program. These scholarship opportunities are made possible by the generosity of individuals and organizations dedicated to the preparation of high-quality educators.

Project or Thesis Handbooks

Near the end of your graduate program, you will complete a 693 project course or 695 thesis course. Handbooks for the project and thesis, project/thesis samples, and other M.Ed. Capstone resources are available.

Our staff are here to help you navigate Michigan's state certification system. Detailed information is available on how to apply for or renew certification, or you can contact the Certification Officer directly with any certification questions.

Apply for Graduation

Students should submit their application to graduate the semester before their degree requirements will be completed.
